How Retail Revive NFC Review Tools Work

Retail Revive NFC review tools provide a direct path from an in-person customer touchpoint to the review link prepared for your business. The hardware does not create, write, or guarantee reviews; it makes the destination easier to reach on a compatible phone.

1. Choose the Right Format

Product Best use Approximate size
NFC Review Stand Registers, front desks, reception areas, and waiting-area counters 105 × 148 mm
NFC Review Plaque Prominent counter, wall, host-stand, or service-area displays 120 × 120 mm
NFC Review Card Mobile, appointment-based, delivery, or on-site service teams 85 × 54 mm
NFC Check Presenter Restaurant and hospitality check delivery 270 × 320 mm open

2. Provide Your Business Link

After ordering, provide the business name or destination link requested for the product. Retail Revive prepares the NFC tool with that link. Before putting the product into service, test it on more than one compatible phone and confirm that it opens the correct page.

3. Place It at a Natural Customer Touchpoint

  • Retail and service counters: Keep the Stand or Plaque visible but out of the way of payment equipment.
  • Reception areas: Place it where customers naturally pause while checking in or out.
  • Mobile services: Present the Card after the work or appointment is complete.
  • Restaurants: Use the Check Presenter during normal bill delivery, or place a Stand near the register for counter service.

4. Invite Honest Feedback

Use a brief, neutral request such as, “You’re welcome to tap here and share honest feedback.” Ask consistently rather than selecting only customers who appear likely to leave a positive rating.

Do not pressure customers, ask for a particular star rating, offer improper incentives, or prevent dissatisfied customers from reaching the same review destination.

5. How a Customer Uses the NFC Tool

  1. Unlock the phone and keep the screen on.
  2. Hold the upper or middle back of the phone near the marked NFC area.
  3. Move the phone slowly if no notification appears immediately.
  4. Tap the notification to open the destination link.

On most compatible NFC-enabled phones, a separate app is not required to open the programmed link. NFC support, settings, and antenna placement vary by phone model and operating system.

Compatibility and Phone Cases

Thick, metal, magnetic, wallet-style, or battery-equipped cases can interfere with NFC. Remove the accessory and try again when a tap does not register. Older phones or phones with NFC disabled may require another way to reach the link.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm the phone is unlocked and connected to the internet.
  2. Remove thick or magnetic accessories.
  3. Try several areas on the upper or middle back of the phone.
  4. Confirm NFC is enabled where the phone provides an NFC setting.
  5. Test the product with a second compatible phone.
  6. Confirm that the destination page still exists and opens normally.

See the iPhone and Android setup guides for device-specific testing guidance.

Care and Placement

  • Keep the NFC area visible and easy to reach.
  • Avoid placing the product directly against large metal surfaces unless it has been tested successfully in that position.
  • Keep printed prompts clean and readable.
  • Use a lightly damp cloth for wipe-clean products and avoid soaking or harsh cleaners.
  • Retest the link after moving the product or changing the destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the product need charging?

No. The embedded NFC technology is passive and does not use a battery.

Can the destination link be changed?

Contact Retail Revive before assuming a product can be reprogrammed or redirected. The available process depends on how the item was prepared.

Does purchasing the hardware include Review Booster software?

Do not assume software access is included unless it is specifically stated in your order information. Review current information on the Review Booster page or contact support.

Will every customer be able to tap?

No. Compatibility and settings vary, so a customer may need troubleshooting or an alternate path to the link.

Does NFC guarantee more reviews or a higher rating?

No. The hardware only makes the destination easier to reach. Participation and rating decisions belong to the customer.
